Privacy Policy

This policy explains, in plain language, what information this website handles and why. We aim to collect as little as possible.

Last updated: 19 October 2026

Information we collect

  • Reading the site: you can read every guide without an account. We don't ask for your name, address or payment details.
  • Email sign-up box: our newsletter is not open yet. Email addresses typed into the sign-up box are not saved or sent anywhere.
  • Emails you send us: if you email us, we receive your email address and message and use them only to reply.
  • Site administrators: a small number of staff sign in to edit content; their email address and sign-in details are stored securely by our hosting provider. Visitors don't need accounts.

Information stored on your device

  • Read-aloud preferences: if you use "Listen to this article", your chosen voice and speed are saved in your browser so they're remembered next time. This stays on your device and isn't sent to us.
  • Your cookie choice: we save whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies in your browser, so we don't ask on every page.
  • Affiliate and partner tools: our booking partners (such as Expedia and Booking.com via CJ Affiliate) may set cookies or similar technologies when you click a booking link, so they can credit us for bookings. These are controlled by those companies under their own privacy policies.
  • Travelpayouts link tool: every page loads a small script from Travelpayouts, an affiliate network, that can turn some travel links into affiliate links. It is not used for analytics or advertising on this site. When a page loads, it receives the page address and standard technical details (such as your IP address and browser type), and reports its own errors to an error-monitoring service. In our checks it did not set cookies or store identifiers on your device before you click a link; if you click a link it handles, Travelpayouts or the partner may then set cookies to credit the booking. Travelpayouts processes this under its own privacy policy.

Visitor analytics (Google Analytics)

With your permission, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to count visits and see which pages are read. It is switched off until you choose "Accept" in the cookie notice; if you choose "Reject" or make no choice, it does not load.

  • What is collected: pages viewed (the page address without search terms or extra link details), page titles, approximate location, device and browser type, and visit timing. Google sets cookies named _ga and _ga_*, which normally last up to two years.
  • What we turn off: Google signals and ad personalisation are disabled, and admin and sign-in pages are never tracked. We don't send names, email addresses or booking details to Google.
  • Where data goes: Google processes this information, possibly outside your country, under its own terms and privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
  • Changing your mind: choose "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page. If you reject after accepting, analytics stops and we remove Google Analytics cookies set for this site.

Third-party services

This site is hosted by our website platform provider, which may process technical information such as IP addresses and browser type to deliver and secure the site. When you click a booking link you leave our site, and the partner's privacy policy applies to anything you do there, including any booking.

How we use information

To run and improve the site, reply to messages, and receive commissions on bookings as described in our Affiliate Disclosure. We do not sell personal information.

Your choices

You can change your analytics choice through "Cookie settings" in the footer, and block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time. To ask about any information we hold about you, or to request that it be deleted, email support@toptentraveldestinations.com.

Changes

We'll update this page if the way we handle information changes — for example, if we open the newsletter — and change the date above.
