What's Open
Lahaina’s return is not a single reopening. Roads, community spaces and individual businesses are moving forward at different speeds. A completed public improvement or an issued building permit does not mean every nearby business is welcoming customers.
Maui County’s July 1, 2026 update documented repairs to Front Street’s walkway and railing, alongside earlier seawall and sidewalk work. These are meaningful infrastructure milestones, not a town-wide opening announcement. We have not verified a complete business-by-business list of places open on November 3, 2026.
Lahaina Small Boat Harbor is not described by the state as fully reopened. Hawaiʻi DLNR announced on December 2, 2025 that limited commercial boat operations would resume from December 15, 2025, with restrictions. Confirm departure point, check-in and current access directly with your tour operator.
Lahaina town is distinct from nearby Kāʻanapali and Nāpili. Businesses in those resort areas are not listed here as Lahaina-town openings. For a restaurant, shop or activity you plan to visit, confirm its current location, hours and access directly with the operator.
Where Can You Eat in Lahaina Now?
These four Front Street restaurants are a selected sample, not a complete list of Lahaina restaurants. Each was checked on its official website on November 3, 2026.
Businesses advertise current service; confirm with each business before visiting. Website hours do not guarantee that a restaurant is open on a particular day.

What's Still Closed
Verified closures: we do not list any individual business as closed, because the sources reviewed do not establish a complete, current closed-business list. Status unknown: any business not listed in this article’s restaurant sample, including places with older listings or relocation notices.
An announcement about a future opening is not proof that a place is open today. The harbor has an official limited operating status, not a full reopening status.
For access decisions on the day, use current County notices and obey posted signs and barricades. Older re-entry information should not be treated as a present-day visitor-access map.

Restaurants & Shopping
Supporting local businesses can be part of a thoughtful visit, but a directory listing does not confirm that a particular restaurant or shop is operating. Ask directly before making a special journey, especially if a business has relocated.
The County describes ʻUlu o Lele, at the former Outlets of Maui site, as an interim home for local businesses and community activities while permanent rebuilding continues. Its retail shops and food vendors are plans, not a verified list of open vendors.
The restaurant sample above reflects official website statements only. For discovery, the LahainaTown Action Committee directory is a useful local starting point; check each business’s own contact details and opening information before you go.
Rebuilding Progress
Recovery is about homes, livelihoods and community as well as visitor facilities. Permitting milestones show progress, but they are not the same as businesses reopening.
On October 12, 2026, the County described a temporary administrative process for qualifying reconstruction applications seaward of Front Street. Its announcement says shoreline setbacks, environmental rules, historic-preservation requirements and coastal-resource protections still apply.
These updates show practical steps toward reconstruction. They do not establish a completion date for Lahaina or guarantee when any individual property will reopen.

What's Coming Back Next
ʻUlu o Lele: an interim marketplace at the former Outlets of Maui, at Waineʻe and Papalaua streets, has a scheduled grand opening on November 10, 2026. As of November 3, 2026, that date is still in the future. The County says individual shops will open as they are ready, and some may open after the celebration.
County snapshot dated October 21, 2026: of 36 impacted properties on the mauka side of Front Street, 2 building permits had been issued, 4 applications were under review and 16 properties were on a pathway to rebuilding. This is a permitting snapshot, not a count of reopened businesses.
What Visitors Should Know
Visit with patience and care. Respect residents’ privacy, private property and every posted access restriction. Do not treat fire-affected sites as sightseeing stops, and avoid photographing people’s loss.
Choose businesses that confirm they are welcoming visitors, allow extra time if access changes, and keep conversations considerate. Residents should not feel obliged to share their experiences of the fires.
Check County recovery notices and official Hawaiʻi visitor guidance close to your trip. General tourism guidance is not a real-time access map. This article is an editorial summary of sources checked on the date shown, not an official safety or travel-restriction notice.
